More than 20,000 rats or ‘kabbas’ live in this temple and they are regularly fed milk by the devotees, tourists, and temple authorities. One is not allowed to hurt these rats and the rats also do not bite or hurt the devotees. These rats are considered to be reincarnated family members of Karni Mata, while the white rats are believed to be her sons.

2. Shani Shingnapur, Maharashtra

Shani Shingnapur is perhaps the safest town in the country. The mystery that the town holds is that not a single house, school, or commercial building here has a door or door frame. They have faith in Lord Shani and believe that because of his blessings, no crime can happen in this town. The town has one of the biggest temples of Lord Shani, which is visited by millions of devotees each year. The nearby places to visit from here are Shirdi, Ajanta, and Ellora Caves.

3. Gravity Defying Palace At Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

The mystery of this place is the central arched hall, which is around 50 meters in length and 3 stories high, and it is not supported by any pillars or even beams. The other famous things here include the interlocking brick structure and the dense maze.

4. The Hanging Pillar at Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh

The Hanging Pillar at Lepakshi is known for its famous floating pillar. There are a total of 70 pillars in this temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva and one among them is hanging for many years without any support.

5. The Mini Desert at Talakad, Karnataka

Situated on the banks of River Kaveri, Talakad once housed more than 30 temples. Now the village is buried under the sand. The River Kaveri turns into a swirling whirlpool at this village, and the reason for this is yet to be found.

6. Hazrat Qamar Ali Darvesh shrine, Maharashtra

The mystery of this place is the rock that weighs 70kg. The rock can only be lifted by 11 people and they have to touch it with their forefinger, while loudly calling out the name of Saint Qamar Ali. This is the only way to lift this special rock.

7. Village of Twins, Kerala

The strange fact about this village is that this place witnesses the birth of a large number of twins. At present, there are more than 200 pairs of twins and two pairs of triplets in this village.

8. The Lake of Skeletons, Uttarakhand

The lake of skeletons at Chamoli in Uttarakhand is the place where around 600 skeletons are seen in the Roopkund Lake every year as the ice melts. Forensic and radiocarbon tests have been carried out on these corpses, and the results say that these are from the 15th century.

9. The Red Rain, Kerala

The red rain first occurred at Idukki in Kerala in 2001 and kept happening on and off for two months. The clothes and buildings were stained on which it poured. The locals collected the rainwater, which after some time turned clean, and the red particles settled at the bottom.

10. The Immortal Flame of Jwala Ji Temple, Kangra
