1. Chittorgarh Fort

The history of Chittorgarh Fort is quite fascinating as it takes us back to the time when Queen Padmavati with the other ladies in the kingdom performed Jauhar. The fort was built by Chitrangada Mori, a local Mori Rajput. The top attractions in Chittorgarh Fort are Kirti Stambh and Vijay Stambh, which are also called memorial towers. Chittorgarh Fort is also called Water Fort. You can find palaces inside the fort along with towers as well as temples. All these cover an area of 700 acres of land. The best time to travel to Chittorgarh Fort is between the months of October and March. Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the largest forts in the country.

2. Fateh Prakash Palace

This palace was named after Maharana Fateh Singh and is a true example of modern architecture. Fateh Prakash Palace has an idol of Lord Ganesha that looks absolutely divine. You will be amazed to see the one-of-a-kind wall paintings, murals, historical artifacts, and sculptures in the museum of the palace. You must visit this attraction to see the epitome of regality and elegance.

3. Padmini Palace

Named after Queen Padmini, Rani Padmini Palace is situated in midst of the Chittorgarh Fort. The queen was known for her beauty and intelligence. While you visit this palace, you can get to know a lot more about the tales of her bravery.

4. Meera Temple

You can find the striking Meera temple within the premises of Chittorgarh Fort. It is one of the most important temples in the entire state, and the temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. Mirabai was born in a Rajput royal family and was known for her love and devotion for Lord Krishna.

  • Entry fee: INR 10 for adults and INR 5 for children
  • Timing: 6 am to 7 pm

5. Gaumukh Reservoir

This is a water tank and is one of the must-visit places in the city of Chittorgarh. Apart from being a tourist attraction, this is also a sacred place for the Hindu community. While you are here, you will be able to feed the fish in the tank. The tank is mostly popular for its architectural beauty.

6. Sathis Deori Temple

Sathis Deori Temple is one of the Hindu temples in the country that is dedicated to Jain Tirthankaras. The temple premises are known for their tranquility and you can enjoy the 11th-century architecture also. It is a great place to visit both for history lovers and religious tourists.

7. Shyama Temple

Shyama Temple is another popular temple that is dedicated to one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu, Varaha. This temple too is perched at the premises of Chittorgarh Fort. Therefore, while taking a tour of the fort, you can very easily visit this temple as well. The architecture of the temple is worth witnessing because of its lofty roof and pyramidal tower. Do not forget to appreciate the intricate carvings of the figures of Gods and Goddesses here.

8. Maha Sati

Maha Sati is a nearby destination from Chittorgarh where the rulers of Udaipur were cremated. This is also a very important place to visit near Chittorgarh as you can find a water reservoir where you can witness the gleaming sun. You can also find the Ahar Cenotaphs here with 19 chhatris commemorating 19 kings cremated here. The place houses more than 250 cenotaphs.

9. Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary

Your Chittorgarh trip will not be complete if you do not visit Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary. There are higher chances that you may spot animals like Panther, Langur, and Mongoose here roaming around freely. Some of the popular trees that you can find here are Dhok and Saral. The sanctuary covers an area of 15000 hectares. Nature lovers are totally going to love this attraction.
